 About Mary Jo Gabel
 

 

Mary Jo Gabel has a B.S. Degree in Home Economics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  For the past twenty-four years she has taught all aspects and levels of sewing:  community college, adult education, and 4-H programs. Mary Jo has developed and successfully taught Serger Sewing classes for the past 18 years and Embroidery Machine Basics classes for the last four years.  She will enlighten any home sewer with tips and tricks for successful serging and embroidering.

"Serger Extravaganza"  (90 minutes)
It's time you use your serger for much more than just finishing seams.  Learn those tips and tricks to successful serging.  Mary Jo will give you those hints for using all types of threads, as well as adjusting your tensions for those threads. If you haven't used any decorative threads successfully, then you need to come to this class.  Mary Jo has taught serger sewing for 18 years with all makes and models of sergers in her hands-on classes.  Samples of garments, baby items, gift items and home decor will encourage you to use your serger----or at least to take it out of the box. Bring your serger questions!

 "Embroidery Machine Basics" (90 minutes)
Come and learn the tips and tricks for success with your home embroidery machine. Learn to use the right  stabilizers, thread, needles, etc.  Mary Jo enjoys sharing her tips and tricks.  Learn hooping techniques, hoopless embroidery, embroidery  positioning, making and using templates, etc.
